Good Day everybody. I have recently recieved my Grandfathers, Parker VH,#163544. I have had it inspected by a gunsmith, who indicated that it was a well loved gun and very safe to fire. I assured him that it still was a loved gun, and went off up to Northern Ontario to test her out. I must say, what a beautiful gun. I fired 150 shells of varied types. She's bang on the money. I prefer her over all of my guns now. A little heavy when your humping certain terrain, however the little extra weight is off no concern. I'm a little scetchy on its history as my grandfather is said to have purchased it in the 30's or 40's. He used it for a couple of years and then it sat in a closet. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Alexander,
Congrats on inheriting your grandfather's Parker! The Serialization Book lists it as a VH 12 gauge with 30" barrels and capped pistol grip. You should request a Research Letter for your gun, as the serial number shows up in the data base, and there may be interesting additional information available on it. And do post some photos, we'd love to see it!

If you have pictures, others here will be able to comment on condition and fill in the blanks on history, but the basics according to the Serialization Book, your Parker was built in 1913. V Grade, Hammerless, no options ordered, Capped Pistol Grip Stock, 12ga., 30" barrels.
Enjoy it.

Alex,
Please do NOT shoot steel through your Parker. Steel could rifle the barrel or bulge the muzzles. Sounds like a wonderful gun.
