Jack Puglisi sponsored a s xs shoot in Duluth this weekend. we had 12 Parker shooters in attendance, more than any other make. We ran a competition between makes having at least four members there to make a squad. We had squads of Fox, Parker, Merkel and L C Smith. Unfortunately the Fox boys edged out the Parker shooters to achieve high score.
Here at sign up, Parker shooter Steve Kleist from Ely. Steve and Rick Rew tied for the top Parker score at sporting clays.

Jack Puglisi has a portable display trailer that was staffed by Jason.
I didn't take, but should have taken, photos of Jack Puglisi's expanded store. He has doubled the size and it is spectacular. Lots of Parkers for sale. Unfortunately, as he was carrying guns on Friday, he slipped and badly tore the muscles in his right leg and will need surgery and long recuperation. Jack put on a wonderful Friday night reception and had the whole staff and family there to help. A true and gracious gentleman.
Destry, I know you were unable to come because of a prior commitment, but I picked up a Puglisi Gun Emporium neck wallet and name tag for you like we wore.

Rick shoots the gun very well. Here is the trigger plate engraving. Look for the sailing ship at sea behind the shorebirds...the only known Parker with a sailing scene.
Adm Fletcher was an Annapolis grad and the scene looks to be of the bay off the Academy grounds.

| Charlie shot a wonderful CHE Bernard that went back to the factory to have a vent rib of damascus steel added and a beavertail forend. Again a one of a kind gun. Attached Image (viewed 559 times):

| The event consisted of sporting clays, a modified skeet field and a pigeon ring where a clay target had a tape adhered to it. You had to break the clay so cleanly the tape fell within the ring. Rick and Greg on the skeet field. Attached Image (viewed 549 times):

Here is the squad on the pigeon ring field.
Bruce Day shooting a tight and tighter 20ga DHE 32"
Greg Dershem with a 12ga DHE damascus 30"
Charlie Herzog shooting a 12ga CHE Bernard 30"
Rick Rew shooting a 12ga AH damascus 30"
The idea was to get a solid and hard hit on a clay pigeon and blast out a piece of tape so that it fluttered to the ground inside the ring. You could not wing or chip the clay because the tape would fall outside the ring.

| Mike Koranda with Sara Frank, a local TV news sports reporter who came to interview us and shoot with us. Guys, this has happened many times that we find ourselves to be a chick magnet. It may be only the Parkers, we don't know, but Sara certainly had fun with us and stayed to shoot. Rick had to teach her the fine points of shotgun aiming. Attached Image (viewed 535 times):

Sara says goodbye boys, I hope you come back again to shoot in Duluth.
Sara is holding a spectacular 20ga A with vent rib and gorgeous wood. She smoked quite a few targets....says she goes pheasant hunting with her dad.
She wants to know if we let girls into the PGCA.

Sorry to hear about Jack's leg, I wouldn't wish that on anybody right before the start of the shooting season.

Terrific pics and story-line Bruce - thanks for posting them up!!! Some of those Parkers are *WONDERFUL* (well, they are all wonderful, to various degrees of wonder..??)...
A couple of thoughts.....
Please - no shorts for some of you guys..
Second - of course we take women into PGCA..!! In fact, I'm trying to get my wife to join, not that she shoots, but I think she looks darned good holding a Parker...
Thanks again Bruce! Looks like it was a great time with a great bunch of folks!

Jack Puglisi was a high school and college football player and also with the Miami Dolphins, so his knees and legs are pretty beat up anyway, and this was bad, tearing all the muscles and the ACL. He was operated on today but re-hab will be lengthy with that situation. He appreciates the goodwill of Parker collectors and does listen to what they say.
I'm sure we have the young ladies shooting with us because of personal magnetism, and not because we look like harmless older uncles. Its just our debonair, suave demeanor, especially Charlie.
Next year we hope the event is bigger and better. Duluth in mid summer is much more pleasant than further south sweltering in 100+ temps.
Lots of nice guns and we brought and shot some spectacular guns, but the clays don't care what you are shooting, just hit them with the most beat up Repro or Trojan is all that matters. Jack's expanded store is quite the sight and it is a delight to walk around and just look at some fine guns, and many thanks to Jack for sponsoring the event.
